ALTON – Three Rotary clubs have teamed up to invite the community to join them in the National Day of Prayer at 8 a.m. Thursday, May 5, at the Best Western Premier, 3559 College Ave., in Alton.
Sponsored locally this year by the Riverbend, Alton-Godfrey and Riverbend East Rotary Clubs, the National Day of Prayer is an event that reaches across denominational lines and has been organized by various individuals for decades.
Proclamations will be read from area government officials, and prayers will be given for education, the sanctity of life, healthcare workers, first responders, and other areas that are important parts of the foundation of our society.
Granite City will also host a ceremony at noon at 2000 Edison Ave.
